Blogger Open Image with Lightbox

Blogger has recently added a new feature for the photos and images on the blog posts. With the new Lightbox feature, the images can be clicked and be displayed with a darkened background.

Also, all the images and photos within the blog post will be listed below, allowing readers to view them one by one - like a slideshow.

Currently, Blogger blogs in default have "Open images with Lightbox" setting enabled. To configure it, go to Dashboard > Settings > Formatting.

Then you'll see the setting mode for Lightbox. Either yes or no.

According to the description: If yes is selected, when a reader clicks on an image in a post, it will be displayed in a slideshow-like overlay instead of leaving your page and navigation to the image.

It could seem rather annoying if readers unintentionally click on it. But if your blog is a photography blog, it's definitely suitable.

Blogger New Interface Layout

Blogger has released a new layout on its Original Blogger site (note: not Blogger in Draft) and you can try the updated Blogger interface with just a click, that's if you're still on the old Blogger interface.

blogger old layout

This is the outdated (or old if you prefer) interface/layout and it has been around for quite some time.

And this... is the new updated interface by Blogger.

blogger new layout

Looks whiter and more organized than the previous interface, with a tinge of orange color. Probably competing with one of their closest competitor, Wordpress, the new layout seem to grasp a more professional look.

If you have a few blogs, you'll see them being listed one by one on the main page. To have a better control over each individual blogs, just click on the blog name and you'll be directed to the overview page.

blogger new layout overview

On the overview page, there will be statistics and updates (comments, post count, follower count, etc) displayed. On the left had side, the navigation panel allows you to work on numerous features, none of which is new though.

blogger new layout posts

On the posts page, it looks similarly like Wordpress - with number of comments with a speech bubble, the views (statistics) and date. The controls are similar to Wordpress too, but definitely a good improvement by Blogger.

blogger new layout comments

Whereas the comment section lists all the comments in a chronological order, with the latest one at the top. However, Blogger should further improve this section by removing the "on blog post" from the written comment. Perhaps a new column will do.

blogger new layout editor

The post editor section is almost the same, despite the change of layout. With the post settings grouped together at the right side, it's more convenient to configure the settings. Blogger now allows the "Location" to be included as well.

For more information about the new layout, check out Blogger's Fresh New Look on the Official Google Blog.

Author's note: It normally takes time to adapt to a new layout. I agree so I'm gonna stay with the old interface for a little longer.

How to Remove Attribution Widget on Blogger

How to remove attribution on Blogger?
How to remove copyright widget on Blogspot?
How to remove line at the bottom of blog?

If you're using a template by Blogger's Template Designer, most of them have an attribution widget at the bottom of the blog.

Take a look and it's something like this...

blogger attribution widget

You're able to modify only the "Copyright" statement from the widget.

If you want to remove this Attribution widget at Design > Page Elements, you see that it can be edited...

blogger attribution widget

But unlike the other normal widgets, you won't be able to remove the Attribution widget because it doesn't have a "Remove" button.

blogger attribution widget

If you insist on removing the widget, here are the steps to remove the attribution widget on Blogger. It's pretty easy and understandable.

1) First, go to Design > Edit HTML > Tick "Expand Widget Templates". Search for the word "attribution".

2) When you see the Attribution widget code (refer to image above), change the "true" on locked to "false".

3) Go back to Design > Page Elements.

blogger attribution widget

4) Since the lock function is disabled (by changing the code to "false"), it's movable and can be removed as well. Click on "Edit" on the Attribution element.

5) And now with the "Remove" button available, you can finally remove the Attribution widget for good.

Blogger New Commenting Feature

Blogspot has a new feature implemented again - this time it's a new feature for comments.

Now you can manage the comments received on your Blogger blog. It will be with one of the tabs with the other navigation, such as Edit Post, Settings, Designs and Monetize.

Here's how the navigation bar look now.

blogger comment feature navigation
With the commenting feature, now you can easily check on published comments, comments that are awaiting moderation and spam comments.

To be honest, it's almost like Wordpress now - except Wordpress has a "Trash" are once you deleted a particular comment, probably just in case you want to recover it back.

But when you delete comments on Blogspot, that cannot be undone.

blogger comment published

This is how the "Published" section look like - with complete information such as comment author, commented blog post and the date.

blogger comment awaiting moderation

Comments "Awaiting Moderation" section. It's self-explanatory.

blogger comment spam

And lastly, the "Spam" section. Haven't gotten any in my spam inbox right now, hopefully it works against automated spam comment bots.

Take note: It's not implemented on all blogs, yet. Only a handful of blogs has this feature - probably all will have it in the near future.

How To Change Default Photo Size Uploaded on Blogspot

How to change the size on photos uploaded on Blogger?
How to set the original photo size on Blogspot?
How to modify the size of photos uploaded on Blogspot via Picasa?
How to change the photos uploaded on Blogspot to the original size?
How to edit the size of the photos uploaded on Blogspot?

If you have uploaded a photo bigger than the default 400px x 400px maximum width and height on Blogspot and would like to display its original size, here's how.

baby tiger

Here's a demonstration: You uploaded this (tiger) picture onto your Blogspot (which is originally larger at 1071px x 1600px), and you want it to be displayed on a bigger scale. What you need to do is to look at the HTML section of the particular blog post.

Look for the code lines for the picture. It will look somehow like this.

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8c5xKOBdDcQ8tQKPvxfs7PKqb8axwCvH0YEtU77TYU1OK-Xi42cKWobBnVtSkwsYJa5mOdjMZJiZKMJ-h7IOSQOgyG4oa2d41IT1XLwkOZsOzcn2jpH8pnSxdVPDmi3uD6XkLJnuEBTYD/s1600/IMG_5331.JPG" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitqkvboK545Ri5iLu1OVXvBcvoE6mr_2eQ5B7mqVHFQ7ptFdyMiuq1F8XAi18_FJISk_4GCZT05Nm8UX3faLqft2y7qrizCCyGq_DsC9RCfLQy0zg_ELYAFr2sCHC_NH2JNVlAaRq3jADj/s400/DSC_0232.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5466089975697168450" border="0" /></a>

Firstly, remove "width: 400px; height: 300px;" from the code. If you don't, the image stays at whatever size indicated by these 2 values.

Then, all you need to do is to change the URL's (highlighted in Orange) "s400" or "s320" (depending on your default upload size) part.

Change it to:
  • s800 - for medium size.
  • s1600 - for full size.
Also, you can change it to s[any value], where [any value] represents the preferred width of the image. (Example - s500, s900, etc, but no more than s1600)

For this example, it's s800. When it's changed to s800, the medium size of the photo shown.

baby tiger

Now the displayed photo size is 536px x 800px.

Likewise, change it to "s1600" if you want to display to full size of the photo. Any value more than "1600" will not work.

Take note: s800 and s1600 has no connection with the height and width, and may show different results compared to the demonstration shown here. It varies depending on the original size of your uploaded photo.

Any questions are welcomed.
